Notes on USC's remaining 2018 targets

For profiles of each player, read this story: https://usc.rivals.com/news/the-remaining-2018-targets

Michael Ezeike

Ezeike enjoyed his official visit to USC this past weekend and is someone USC wants to add to the 2018 class. We were recently told USC is expected to sign Ezeike.

Olaijah Griffin

Griffin claims to be high on Alabama and Tennessee but we feel confident he'll commit to USC on Wednesday.

Penei Sewell

We were told that USC is currently in third place for Sewell behind Oregon and Utah. Alabama is also involved here as well. We believe the Trojans have to come from behind to sign Sewell at this point but crazier things have happened.

Isaac Taylor-Stuart

We're no longer as confident as we once were that USC will be the eventual choice for Taylor-Stuart. But if asked, we're still picking the Trojans.

Solomon Tuliaupupu

Tuliaupupu will take all his visits and look at all his options but we believe USC is still the favorite here. There’s rumors that he could do his own thing and sign elsewhere. Notre Dame and UCLA hope that happens and Tuliaupupu says that can happen. But we feel confident he will pick USC on signing day.

Devon Williams

The latest information we've gathered has Williams leaning towards the Trojans and we believe there's a very good chance he signs with USC tomorrow.

Others

USC has recently been recruiting WR Solomon Enis but he doesn't believe the Trojans have room in their class to take him.

USC has also recently been recruiting QB Tanner McKee but he doesn't hold a scholarship offer from the Trojans yet.

DE Jeremiah Martin isn’t a big priority for USC at this point and he seems to be trending away from the Trojans. But Johnny Nansen did recently visit his school so USC is involved. There's a chance he ends up in USC's 2018 class still and that's why he's on this list. But we believe it's small chance. We believe Oklahoma and Texas A&M seem to be more likely scenarios. Even Oregon and Washington seem more likely at this point. There's also a chance Martin ends up in junior college before playing division one football.

RB Mychale Salahuddin claims he's still considering USC, but we don't expect him to end up as a Trojan.

Note: Current commits JT Daniels, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Trevor Trout and Eli'Jah Winston have not signed letters of intent with USC yet.

Tuli Letuligasenoa commits to Washington....

Tuli Letuligasenoa has committed to Washington. This came after his weekend official visit to see the Huskies. The USC coaching staff expected this to happen and this is a part of the plan.

Source on Letuligasenoa:

"(USC) let him loose."

Just a note for those who a bit confused: A 3rd DT in this class was not a priority and as Adam Maya reported previously, USC told Letuligasenoa to wait before signing a letter of intent back in December. The Trojans have now parted ways with him. This is because scholarships in this class are at a premium and a 3rd DT just isn't that big of a deal to the staff.

Sam Spot

with this Winston flip I think we have to see Abdul Malik McClain at Sam. McClain played some WR and can dunk and is so fast and long. He's athletic enough to play Sam for us.

Winston looks thick too but I find it hard to believe we carry that many predators on the roster when Sam is equally important. Personally I think McClain even plays this year as a true freshman rotating in for Iosefa on some downs.

Predator
1. Porter
2. Murphy
3. Wole
4. Echols
5. Winston

Sam
1. Iosefa
2. McClain
3. Mauga/Falaniko

Predict USC's 2018 signing class... for a prize

USC has already signed 10 players in the 2018 class. On the eve of Signing Day, no one knows exactly who will fill out the rest of its class -- not even USC. But we all have our predictions.

Share yours below, and if you match the final class exactly, we'll send you a free copy of the brand new book, All the Pieces Matter: The Inside Story of The Wire. It's the definitive oral history on what some regard as the best television series ever, and it's written by USC alum, good friend, TrojanSports sub and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Abrams.

The FIRST FIVE people to correctly predict the entire group of players to sign with USC on Wednesday will win the book. Each user is allowed to submit one entry and it cannot include any names who are not part of the class. Players who signed with USC in December do not need to be listed. Current commits that you think will sign with USC must be included. Since Eli'jah Winston is announcing his commitment Tuesday afternoon, we’re not counting him either way.

The cutoff for submissions is Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. PST. No edits allowed. Please share your predictions in this thread.

Now let the games begin...

OT: That was the week that was….

Looking back at last week we saw what may be an enormous eventful time

….that included a rare "watchable" Super Bowl. The underdog Eagles vs. the established and unbeatable team, New England. Great action (one punt). The second biggest surprise, since well….November's presidential election.

….The release of the first of the Nunes' investigation memos….which by following the probable Democratic mantra went from an "Apocalyptic event" if released that would break down the Justice department…to a "nothing-burger" as depicted by MSM… to a step by step fight against each paragraph using the old political mantra of the big D ( not Dallas). That is Deny, Dissemble, Delay and Dismiss. I personally think the dismissal part probably won't happen for quite a while.

…..The State of the Union . A chance for Trump to blow it, ended up as a sit-down strike for the opposition. And a general approval across the political classifications-Republicans , Independents, even 43% of the Democrats. OK it's just a SOTU, so you guessed it: Deny ($1000 bonuses are nothing), dissemble (the addressing of Americans of all colors is apparently "racist"), Delay (Gov. shutdowns looming yet again?) and Dismissal (the speech was a nothing burger? again). Got to love the MSM quote machines. But Ill still take "Americans are Dreamers too!"

Another Awards show where music intruded into the political posturing….and Grammy Hillary Clinton showed up on the Grammys! How many lives does she have? Oh, and America and Trump were dissed again by this August group of political warblers. Are you old enough (actually records still live) to remember when records got a nick and repeated things over and over? That’s the Grammys…That’s the Grammys…That’s the ….

And also, the Collusion investigation under Mueller just discovered a great ……oh wait lets skip to Delay on that one.

2019 WR Kyle Ford

Excerpt from my article on Ford

Ford is certainly open to leaving the west coast as he's high on the likes of Penn State, Notre Dame, and Michigan, but his interest is also high in the two local Los Angeles schools.

"Those are obviously always going to be some big ones because they're local and easy to see," Ford explained. "UCLA and USC are about equal in the recruiting process with me. They're both showing pretty high interest.

"I've been talking to coach Dougherty a little bit and coach Foster actually came down not too long ago, and he said they're pretty excited about me. With USC -- Tee Martin, I've talked to him a little bit, and Mr. Ziskin, the recruiting coordinator over there, I've been talking to him a lot. They're really interested and that's nice to hear."

Devon Williams update

Devon Williams met with the USC staff on Saturday night and again Sunday morning. He initially wished for privacy on the matter as he dealt with a personal issue, but his secret meetings were leaked on Twitter.

USC remains in an intense battle with Oregon for Williams. He did not indicate to USC coaches this weekend he was signing with the Trojans, leaving them hopeful but unsure about what he’ll do.

“Feel good but still not really confident,” our source said. “I think we get him.”

Williams is scheduled to announce his decision on signing day and the pursuit to land him figures to continue until then.
