Another Julius Irvin update...

Most everyone I've talked to today has told me that Anaheim, Calif. Servite HS DB Julius Irvin is saying that he's going to Washington.

That being said, most of those people aren't sure if they believe him.

Given what I was told this weekend, I'm not sure I believe him either. So I just talked to someone close to USC's recruiting efforts who said this:

"I think Irvin doesn’t know what he’s gonna do still."

It should be a fun 24 hours. Stay tuned!

2018 WR target update...

A source I trust tells me that USC is recruiting Chris Olave still but that it's not overly aggressive at this point. While he's still a target and could still possibly visit the school, the Trojans are prioritizing Devon Williams over Olave for the second receiver spot at this point.

Based on what I was told, I would be surprised if Olave ends up in USC's class unless the Trojans decide he's a priority and make up a lot of ground late.

Transfer, coaching tidbits

Sources identified two USC players who have communicated their intentions to transfer. (Out of respect for those players, we will not report their names at this time, but one plays offense and the other defense.)

This development, of course, opens the door for two more players to sign in the 2018 class. As we reported Thursday, the top priority at this time is cornerback. The next biggest needs are a third offensive lineman and a fifth linebacker.

Sources also informed me there are currently no frontrunners for the running backs coaching vacancy as well as the expected vacancy on defense. There is a good chance these hires won’t be addressed until after signing day. As you might recall, former RBs coach Tommie Robinson left for LSU shortly after signing day last year and Deland McCullough was not hired until March.

Note on Devon Williams...

Oregon and USC are in a "50-50" battle for Devon Williams according to a source I trust.

USC has made up a ton of ground and has a very good chance to get the product of Lancaster, Calif. Antelope Valley HS. But there's apparently some in Williams' inner circle that are pushing hard for the Trojans' conference rival in Eugene, Ore.

Williams will take an official visit to Oregon this weekend so we'll see how things stand after that. I'm not confident in any prediction at this point but things do seem to be trending USC's way for the Rivals100 ATH at this point.

In other news, I don't know sheet about recruiting but in the recruiting game, if you follow it long enough you start to figure it out. Ain't hard to bat above 50% with all the info out there even when you miss on a DeAnthony, a Jalen, a Deshaun etc etc. I hit my mark on decommits this year and I haven't done too bad give or take a playa or two. So right or wrong I am sticking with what I have said for the last month plus. ITS, Irvin, OG, and Solo. Sheet I'd take 3 of the 4 and be stoked.

PS I haven't given up on Sewell yet.
