First, there was a lot of 3 defensive safety's on the field in the Nickel. The first group was Tell, Ross, and McQuay with the later in the slot. We were actually a little thin in our secondary yesterday with Hawkins, Plattenburg, Cook, Pie Young and Isaiah Langley either out or limited. Then add to the list later Marvell Tell. So there was a ton of reps for the walk-on's #41 and #26 I believe.
Second, a ton of blitzing!!! I mean a ton of blitzing, from everywhere. Counted at least 4 safety blitz and maybe 2 or 3 from Jack Jones off corner. Kid is fast. There were a few times where Coach Clancy would have 6 of even 7 guys at the line and 5 would come but it was a real guessing game as to who it was going to be. It's no coincidence that both QB's had a rough go.
Overall team speed looked good. Oline had there way early in run drills but the Defense showed up in team periods.
