Biden takes high road with DeSantis, approves hurricane declaration

Striking a sharp contrast to Trump's preferred policy of only helping states that voted for him, President Biden is doing everything in his power to prepare Florida for yet another potentially devastating hurricane. He put aside partisan considerations to speak with DeSantis directly and issued an official emergency declaration, greenlighting the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate disaster relief efforts in over 30 counties ahead of Idalia's landfall.

Interestingly, Biden resisted the urge to point out that extreme weather events like Hurricane Idalia are growing in intensity and frequency in part due to the Republican Party's disastrous energy policies and steadfast refusal to even acknowledge that climate change is real.
