Clay’s Replacement for Clancy

Pendergast will likely be the scapegoat if Clay is retained. Ive always been a supporter of Clancy, but it is time for him to move on. That being said, I put more of the blame on Helton than CP, and still think that Clancy is a competent DC if he didn’t have such an incompetent HC that knows zero about proper strength and conditioning, and teaching tackling/, toughness, and physicality. Pendergast has led defenses that ranked 1st in the PAC12, and units that have led the nation in sacks. He’s also led a defense to the SuperBowl.

The bigger problem is without Clancy, I don’t see Clay being able to upgrade or even keep the same caliber of DC. He has no rolodex outside of Kentucky. No decent DC in their right mind would want to work under him after two straight years on the hot seat.

If the DL studs declare for the NFL, I see an even worse year next year
