The overwhelming majority of Usc fans know this. And so too do recruits. And THAT not fan opinion on social media is what is driving recruits away.

Enough of this stupid foolishness about messageboards and fan opinion scaring recruits away. It’s utter and complete nonsense spewed by two kinds of people here a) Bruins trolling you and b) foolish and clueless people who are overly succeptible to the praise and worship of people in power. Mainly b) around here. You always wonder why people fall prey to cults well here’s a nice micro-example. Some people are wired to unquestionably follow. Their mantra is “Well, I support XYZ because XYZ is the coach/president/leader.” They are lemmings. They will support anyone more powerful than they are because it’s their nature. Even if that person is contrary to their best interests and the best interests of people they care about. Doesn’t matter. They support the leader. In this case the objectively horrible head coach of Usc who is actively killing the program and failing to develop the players he’s tasked with developing and crushing a football program and it’s fans, alumni, and donors with his ineptitude. But, forget all that “SUPPORT THE COACH!”
And it is those people who are now on this last gasp crusade to blame the fans and the messageboard posters and social media for the horrifying decline of the program, specifically recruiting. It’s almost comedic in its desperation if it wasn’t so freaking pathetic and sad. Yeah. This is how far these people have jumped the shark. They believe an 18 year old high school kid who gets literally hundreds of texts and calls and influences from college coaches recruiting him is swayed in some meaningful manner by people posting on a pay walled fan board. Wait, sorry, they don’t believe it. I take that back. They throw it out there as the final ditch effort to justify their delusional agenda borne of a warped “follower” mentality.
It’s poppycock. Pure nonsense. It doesn’t even hold up to a simple logic check. And then you add in the news reports from high school coaches who clearly indicate it’s the horrible performance of Usc and it’s coaches
and admin that are driving recruits away. But facts be damned. That’s would mean blaming the leadership and automatons don’t question leadership they lash out at the non-believers. Like cult members. And that’s what you’re seeing here from some posters.
