I just wanted to give praise to Adam Maya and some of our friends across the Rivals.com network for the work done during the USC coaching search.
Adam is basically my right hand and I appreciate his suggestions and help throughout the entire process. He and I narrowed the field down to a small group towards the end and most of the credit should go to him on that one.
I also have to praise some of our friends on the network for their help. Because of this group effort, we were able to get ahead of everyone else on many aspects of the search.
For example, we were the ones to name Hue Jackson as a serious candidate. Despite getting panned by this board, and despite one of our competitors making fun of us in an article for saying Jackson was a candidate, it turns out we were very, very, very right while others were very, very, wrong (what a surprise). As we all know now, Jackson was one of the few candidates USC contacted.
Another example of the great work by Adam and the entire Rivals team would be the sources we got on the insane John Harbaugh to USC rumors, which were started and fanned by an irresponsible party. We never named Harbaugh as a candidate and were able to verify that he almost certainly wasn't coming early and often through various sources. Again, praise to Adam and Rivals on this one as they both helped me find out that Harbaugh to USC was nothing more than a fantasy meant to drive conversation.
So thanks to Adam and the Rivals network for all the help. I think because of it, we had a solid read on what was happening.
