Is not good
But is SOOOO much better than last year.
I have no thoughts we can be a lockdown defense at any point this year, BUT when I see this defense giving up chunk plays and drives it rarely is “we are getting dominated”(a thought I’ve had a lot on recent years) and more “we missed that sack” or “that receiver made a really good catch” which speaks volumes.
I am much more optimistic that our defense is capable of putting up a good performance vs good offense but on the flip side we are also capable of putting up a bad performance vs a school like Cal.
Overall we are so much better than last year and I absolutely love Grinch. Players are in positions to make plays A LOT, they just aren’t consistently making then. Honest to god (I know this sounds crazy) how creative I saw AG get last night and how he uses him players I’m even more excited for the future.
Let us get some dogs on defense and I am so optimistic he is going to put them in a position to be great.
