This is the month when all those pundit magazines make predictions about NCAA teams. Here's an early look gleaned from Street and Smith, Athlon, Lindys and Steele's. And some comments on them….In general they were in lock step with all 6 teams in the P12 North division and with the top 2 in the P12 North division. Nationally there was much less consensus.
PAC12 North-
Washington- PAC 12: #1unanimous. National Ranking: 4-8. Top 20 units in QB,RB, OL, LB, DB. 1 P12 losses projected. Best balanced team?
Stanford-PAC 12: #2 unanimous. National Ranking: 13-18. Top 20 units in OL, RB, REC, LB, DB, ST 3 P12 losses projected.
Oregon-PAC 12: #3 unanimous. National Ranking: 22-24. Top 20 units in QB,OL, RB, LB, DB. 4 P12 losses projected.
California-PAC 12: #4 unanimous. National Ranking: 49-58. Top 20 unit in REC. 5 P12 losses projected.
Wash. St. -PAC 12: #5 unanimous. National Ranking: 55-68. Top 20 units -none. 6 P12 losses projected.
Ore. St. -PAC 12: #6 unanimous. National Ranking: 91-114. Top 20 units -none. 9 P12 losses projected. Sounds like a good road trip if you don't mind rain.
PAC12 South-
USC-PAC 12: #1 unanimous (all 4). National Ranking: 15-21. Top 20 units in REC, OL, RB, LB, DB, ST. 2 P12 losses projected. USC good across board but QB ? holds back enthusiasm.
Utah-PAC 12: #2 unanimous. National Ranking: 22-32. Top 20 units in DB, ST. 4 P12 losses projected.
Arizona-PAC 12: #3-4. National Ranking: 32-48. Top 20 units in QB. 4 P12 losses projected.
UCLA-PAC 12: #3-6. National Ranking: 44-59. Top 20 units -none. 5 P12 losses projected. Ranked all over the map. QB and OL are doubts here.
Colorado-PAC 12: # 4-6. National Ranking: 47-73. Top 20 units in ST. 5 P12 losses projected.
ASU-PAC 12: #5-6. National Ranking: 50-68. Top 20 unit in QB. 6 P12 loss projected.
The above isn't unreasonable but I disagree in part and will show that next month.
As for the 3 OOC Teams played by USC:
Notre Dame- National Ranking: 8-15. Top 20 units in LB, DB. We play them at home.
Texas National Ranking: 10-27. Top 20 units in QB,REC, LB, DB. All over the map. Tough game there.
UNLV National Ranking: 94-104. Top 20 units none.
