Notes and observations from today's practice ...
USC is in shorts and shoulder pads, as it has been since the beginning of November.
Practice went maybe 15 minutes shorter than usual. Clay Helton seems to have decided it's about preservation at this point.
11-on-11:
Kevon Seymour breaks up a pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster toward the sideline. More first-team reps than usual for Kevon today. Biggie Marshall and Adoree' Jackson also heavily involved with the first team.
Ronald Jones II breaks off a big run between the tackles. If anyone is wondering about him experiencing some fatigue, I'm not seeing that.
Dominic Davis runs off tackle and bounces off at least two defenders for a big gain. There's got to be a way to get him involved in this offense.
Cody Kessler hits JuJu over the middle.
***
7-on-7:
Deontay Burnett makes a one-handed catch downfield between two defenders. He's another one that needs to be on the field more.
JuJu dives for a deep ball and can't hang on but lands on his arms in the process. Looked like a lot of weight came down on his hand. JuJu is slow to get up and is noticeably grimacing as he walks away. I didn't see him participate in the final team period but he stayed around after practice to work with a GA and appeared to be OK.
Should he be practicing? It's a real question, especially given how hard he throws his body around. I'm sure he and Kessler would be on the same page come Saturday without JuJu practicing the next couple days.

11-on-11:
Kessler hits Darreus Rogers in stride up the seam. Alas, the throws we only see in practice.
Adoree' breaks up a pass to Robby Kolanz.
Max Browne hits Caleb Wilson in the deep middle.
Browne throws a beautiful ball to the sideline and George Katrib makes an excellent catch over a defender. Browne doesn't hesitate to go downfield and give his receivers a chance to make a play on the ball.
Aca'Cedric Ware closes out practice with a catch out of the backfield. He really looks like an all-around back. Should be a good complement to RoJo and Justin Davis (assuming he returns) next year.
