General Question for the Board

I'll probably get killed for this, but here goes...

One of the reasons I am a Trojan fan (I did not attend USC, my father did when I was 5...for his PhD), is the tradition / history of excellence. They continue have the highest expectations of themselves, as we fans do of them. Year in and year out we all post about how the team is exceeding, meeting or falling short of these expectations. However, I feel like we don't hold ourselves to the same standards. I saw someone post that we shouldn't worry about recruits reading our nasty stuff on our board because all of the fan boards are the same. And though I don't doubt that may be true, it got me thinking "why"? Why can't we be better than the main board or other fan site boards?

Now, the crux of this is what defines a better fan board. I'm guessing less sniping, bigotry, calling people out, and more civil dialogue. I know it is possible for most but they'll always be that minority that won't stop. We need to remember as we engage that most posters share the same passionate love for the same team and share in the joy of triumphs and misery of failures of said team.

Anyway, I know that they say be the change so I will put my money where my mouth is. The next time one of you jack holes says something insane or idiotic (j/k), I will engage in a more civil and open dialogue. I invite you all to join me and maybe we can make this board the USC Trojans of message boards.
