On what he wants from a defensive coordinator
“I’m looking for somebody that’s going to fit the overall system that we’re looking for at USC, about being extremely aggressive on defense and fitting the personnel that we have on defense right now. I think we have some extremely talented young people and I look forward to a defensive coordinator that can take those young people, develop them and fit them into a very aggressive style of defense that can win a Pac-12 Championship.”
That's the best thing I've read in a long time. Now I hope he can actually make it happen. More than a fancy, high powered O, I want to see us getting back to a hyper-aggressive, nasty D that can just control our opponent, but fit the scheme to the players, not the player to the scheme and develop the talent. It all starts with the D line and pressure on the QB. Once you have that, everything else falls into place, and that's been lacking more than anything else, IMO.
