First, I was smiling when I left. It was a gorgeous day and USC won. I saw #3 USC lose here in
1975 and 2003 so I take nothing for granted. Here are things that hit me while I watched:

* The USC band was it's awesome self.

* 37.372% of attendees were USC fans.....based on my highly scientific analysis.

* I think more success could be had if a vertical run and pass game was used more. The high
percentage of outside passing and running increases the likelihood of a losing play and without
a "middle of the field" approach the defense isn't as taxed.

* If the d-backs could turn their heads and look for the ball, even at the last moment, it would
reduce the penalties and increase the breakups and possible INTs.

* I would like to see Mitchell and other fast receivers be the targest for longer passes. JuJu is great
but he is not the swiftest of the receivers.

* I would like to 10-15 yard square outs and slants. One would think USC receivers could excel in this
and it would help open up the double move possibility.

* I would like to see Soma in on short yardage plays, and even to give him the ball 35% of the time to
mix it up. If we are going to run power then run it with power players and in the middle of the field.

* Got away from passing to the backs. They are all very good and the plays seem to be there.

* The defense played a good game; a better than average game against a difficult opponent.

* A running or even little more mobile QB and USC would be much harder to stop.
