Oklahoma tight end Taylor McNamara posted on his Twitter account Monday evening that he is planning to graduate in May and is headed to USC this summer. He would be eligible to play immediately should he graduate.

His Twitter account reads: "Want to thank everybody @ OU for a fun 3 years. Furthest from a easy decision to leave, but @ the end of the day I felt it was best for my future. I've made great friends who I will keep in touch with after I graduate in May. Excited to say though, I'm headed back to so cal, and will be a Trojan come July."

McNamara would give USC some much-needed depth at tight end, the thinnest position on the entire roster. Expected starter Bryce Dixon has yet to participate in spring practice and is not expected to return this year because of an undisclosed student-conduct issue.

Reserve Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick, who sat out last season because he was academically ineligible, has struggled in spring ball despite being the only scholarship tight end participating. There is a chance he will not be eligible for 2015. Walk-on Connor Spears, who redshirted last season after transferring from Columbia, has taken the majority of first-team snaps this spring.

Four-star tight end Tyler Petite from Moraga (Calif.) Campolindo High is set to arrive in the fall. He's listed at 6-6, 235. Coach Steve Sarkisian called Petiteperhaps the most important member of the signing class, which was peculiar at the time but in hindsight was foreboding. Gardena (Calif.) Serra High tight end Caleb Wilson (6-5, 210) is also expected to walk-on in this fall. Sarkisian has said several times now that he will likely experiment with using incoming defensive players at tight end as well.

McNamara is listed at 6-5, 245 in his Sooners bio. He would be a redshirt junior after playing the past two seasons and receiving a medical redshirt for a shoulder injury during his first season in Norman.

He's played in just 11 games the past three years, making one start and tallying one reception. He appeared in six of 13 games last season. He was a four-star prospect and a U.S. Army All-American coming out of Westview High in San Diego.

Because USC signed a full class this past winter, McNamara would have to blueshirt (i.e. walk-on before receiving a scholarship) and be a 2016 counter.
