What if?
There's trouble in Phoenix tonight. Police cars with their lights on and Sirens blazing are zooming everywhere. Up above, not too far in the distance, a helicopter is circling as it beseeches a (presumed) disorderly throng to comply with indecipherable instructions. It's a frenzied to pace that presumably mirrors a frenzied mood among the assembled.
Here, a pickup truck passes by, flying a large Mexican flag and honking its horns. There, a family marches towards a destination unknown toting smaller Mexican flags and cardboard signs.
I am drawn towards the spectacle, buoyd by the euphoria of having just devoured five killer tacos and downed a jalapeno-infused cocktail that was absolutely enfuego at a local haunt. However, as caution got the better of me, I decided to walk back to the hotel and not seek out the assumed demonstration.
All the while, I couldn't help wondering if this was all just one HUGE misunderstanding. What if the feds, seeing the flags, actually believe they are doing these immigrants a huge favor by trying to send them back to a place they truly love and long to return to??? I think I could help deescalate this!
