I’ve learned that recently fired Western Kentucky head coach Mike Sanford has been in contact with USC about possibly becoming its quarterbcks coach.
I don’t know yet what USC’s interest level is, but am told Sanford would be very open to joining the staff. The two sides’ initial discussions did not involve Sanford being the offensive coordinator, per a source.
Sanford guided Western Kentucky to a bowl game last year but was dismissed just two days ago after the Hilltoppers finished 3-9. He was previously an OC/QBs coach at Boise State and Notre Dame, where he tutored DeShone Kizer.
