Notable stats from USC's loss to Stanford...

USC is 1-2 for the first time since 2001 (when it started 1-4).

The Trojans have lost five in a row away from the Coliseum and are 2-6 in road and neutral site games since Clay Helton took over as the interim coach last October. They're 6-6 overall under Helton but have lost four of five and five of seven.

This was the fourth time in seven games that the Trojans lost by 17 points or more, which hadn't happened since 1983 (under Ted Tollner).

USC has lost eight of its past 11 meetings with Stanford, which is a first in the series' 95-game history. (Stanford won seven of 10 meetings between 1933-42.) This is also the first time the Cardinal have won three consecutive meetings by double digits.

The Trojans have scored 10 points or less twice in three games. That last happened under Lane Kiffin in 2012-2013 (Georgia Tech, Washington State). Before that, it was 1992-93 in Larry's Smith's final game and the debut of John Robinson's second term.

USC has scored one touchdown in eight quarters against Power-5 teams. The offense averaged 5.8 yards per play vs. Stanford, a season high.

The Trojans converted 4 of 12 third downs and did not convert their lone attempt on fourth down. They reached the red zone three times and came away with seven points.

USC had six false starts, including three over a four-play stretch during a first-quarter drive that resulted in a field goal.

Three of the Trojans' five punts were from Stanford's side of the field.

Max Browne completed 18 of 28 passes for 191 yards. Sam Darnold, who handed the ball off twice at the beginning of the fourth quarter and then played the entire final drive, went 5 of 7 for 45 yards and an interception.

Justin Davis and Ronald Jones II combined to rush for 126 yards on 25 carries (5.0 average).

Tyler Petite had a team-high 73 receiving yards. Steven Mitchell had a team-high five receptions (for 55 yards).

JuJu Smith-Schuster had three catches for 34 yards. He combined for 19 catches and 240 yards in USC's two games with Stanford last year. He now has 11 catches for 99 yards through three games this season. He had 11 catches in last year's Pac-12 title game alone and topped 99 yards six times.

The Trojans haven't passed for 250 yards in 10 consecutive games (and haven't had a 200-yard passer in six of those games.) They haven't had a 100-yard rusher in five consecutive games. They haven't had a 100-yard receiver in eight consecutive games.

Adoree' Jackson had an interception, pass break-up and tackle for loss. His six tackles overall were one shy of the team leader (Michael Hutchings).

Stanford ran for 295 yards (6.3 average) and has collected 567 rushing yards in the past two meetings. The Cardinal have attempted just 28 passes in those games (and completed 19 of them).

Christian McCaffrey had 260 all-purpose yards, including 165 rushing yards. That gives him 970 all-purpose yards (and 487 on the ground) in the past three games against USC. He led all players in receiving yards in each of the past two meetings (and rushing, too, of course).

Thirty of Stanford's 62 plays from scrimmage were carries by McCaffrey. The Cardinal wide receivers combined for three catches and 16 yards.
