News updates from Wednesday's closed practice ...
Tailback Tre Madden (knee) will not play this week and could be out longer.
"It's a bone bruise," Coach Clay Helton said. "It reminds us a lot of the way Marqise (Lee's) was a couple years ago. We decided we're going to reat him this week, re-evaluate next week and it may be a couple week thing. We want to get him back 100 percent healthy."
Helton said Madden will still travel with the team because of the leadership he brings, especially to the running backs.
Helton said DL Claude Pelon and C Khaliel Rodgers will play Friday. Rodgers actually irritated the opposite shoulder of the one that was giving him issues earlier this fall. Helton said he expects Pelon to play between 15-30 snaps vs. Colorado. They were hoping he would play 15 snaps vs. Arizona and Helton said he was able to go 36 because of how good he felt after warmups.
Helton said safety Matt Lopes has a separation in the joint of his foot and will be out 1-2 weeks.
John Houston Jr., who recently posted a photo of himself on Snapchat in the hospital, is rehabbing a back injury. Helton said it's a pre-existing injury from high school that won't require surgery. Houston is redshirting this season.
Keyshawn Johnson, who's been a regular at practice in recent weeks, was again in attendance. Pat Haden was also present for the second time this week.
