I'm hearing five-star defensive end Jonathan Kongbo thoroughly enjoyed his USC visit and it's believed the Trojans have surged to the top of his list following a weekend in Los Angeles.

In fact, a source tells me the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the nation gave indications that he's planning to sign with USC. That would make it a huge coup given the Trojans offered fairly late and Kongbo, a former Tennessee commit, had been leaning toward the SEC for quite some time.

It's still unclear whether Kongbo intends to take his final official to Florida State next weekend, so USC might have to withstand that. But I'm told Kenechi Udeze made a big impression and Kongbo recognizes USC's need for an immediate impact pass rusher in Clancy Pendergast's scheme.

Kongbo was hosted by early enrollee Oluwole Betiku, and I'm told that was also huge success.
