One thing about the San Jose State game that no one seems to be mentioning--not even coach Riley--is that nearly everyone on the team got a chance to play, including walk-ons who had only served as practice squad fodder and had never seen the field in their entire careers. It's something that Pete Carroll used to do, throw a bone to the guys who work hard to help the ones and twos prepare for games but never hear their numbers called. Beyond it being something of a thank you for their hard work, it also gave them, however unlikely, a chance to show that they're possibly diamonds in the rough. Certainly it helps build team unity and was likely done with the confidence that, if necessary, the ones could be put back in to solve any problems. And it probably hasn't been mentioned because it might be read as an insult to the San Jose State team and staff. It may continue against Nevada, but on a lesser scale. Definitely good for team morale when everyone gets a piece of the pie.
