So, I'm aiming to report on as many players as possible in spring practice. Something that I thought might be useful, though, given all of the notes in Footnotes is highlighting the top performer each week for every position group.
Here are my choices for Week 1:
QB: Max Browne -- spreading the field, using his personnel, has rallied late in each practice
RB: Ronald Jones II -- looks to be running more patiently
TE: Taylor McNamara -- most well-rounded (for now?)
WR: JuJu Smith-Schuster -- he cares sooooooo much
OL: Chad Wheeler -- challenged to be more fundamentally sound and appears to be responding to the call
DL: Rasheem Green -- has been a nuisance for the O-line each day, constantly in backfield
LB: Porter Gustin -- see Green
CB: Biggie Marshall -- has made it a point to test himself vs. JuJu and winning a lot of battles
S: Leon McQuay -- playing fast, free and fearless
Honorable mentions: WR Michael Pittman (great awareness), WR Isaac Whitney (playing with confidence), LB Uchenna Nwosu (adaptable), LB Quinton Powell (newfound edge)
