I predicted a Bruin win in a big way. I was wrong. Let me say that again, I WAS WRONG. Okay, but now here is my post win thoughts
We are no better off, it was just a win and my concerns are still there. Our coaches hold us back. This game and many others this season were much harder than they should have been. Our coaches have let us down.
Today I was in a room full of Trojan fans, screaming to run the ball down their ****ing throats! For much of the game we did not, we went to our retarded passing game and had no success. We kept another opponent in the game not because of what they were doing, but rather they were in it because our coaches just don't get it!
Our offense sucked! outside of a punt return and a defensive score our offense let us down again. The reason was because they went pass heavy, playing the stupid horizontal pass attack that kills so many drives. It was obvious that we were running between the tackles for 5 yards a pop but still our coaches natural default is to want to pass the ball horizontally. Let me tell you I was F bombing the entire game to ****ing run the ball down their throats because 1) they could not stop it and 2) it was eating up the clock. Our coaches almost cost us this game as well by going for the style points. Cody is terrible, and our passing attack makes no sense. It is so easy, pound the ball and then pass off play action. Time tested, and again today our scores did come off play action. Why do our coaches not get it? Again run beautifully and then jeopardize a drive with the stupid horizontal pass for 1 yard that just kills drives.
finally at then end of the game we just said **** it, lets pound it and we did. This is the problem. We need to say **** it, lets pound it form the very beginning of the game AND THEN use play action.. How do our coaches not understand this? We keep teams in games with us only because of the stupidity of our coaches.
So I come to the board to admit I was wrong, SC won, BUT I saw the same stupidity from our coaches that I've seen for the last 5 years. I think we need to shit can all of them and bring in someone with a run first mentality. At the end of the day that is what it comes down to, our coaches believe in pass first and it gets us in trouble. Only when they go to the run do we put games away. We need to put games away early via the run/play action. If we had a different coaching staff we'd have maybe only 1 loss.
