We caught up with sources close to the situation and learned there's currently a snag in Clancy Pendergast's return to USC becoming official: the length of the contract.
Pendergast wants a three-year deal and USC has offered two years, so Pendergast is off to Oregon to interview with the Ducks.
We're hearing that his dealings with Oregon might only be an attempt to strong-arm USC into a longer deal. The Ducks might not actually be prepared to hire a DC just yet as they want to go through a search. This bodes well for USC, as Pendergast is said to be looking to be hired as soon as possible.

A USC official says Clandy Pendergast's hiring isn't official as of now. But all indications are that it will be.
