Or even come close to one. Pete Carroll wasn't a big hire at the time...turned out to be. Kiffin and Sark were average hires at best. Paul Hackett was the worst hire in Blue Blood History. John Robinson in 1993 might have been the best hire in its history if memory serves me correct. Tollner was average hire. Larry Smith was average hire (hiring Kyle Wittingham would be similiar to that hire). John McKay was a USC assistant. USC has been slowed down by bad hires and it's time
