The first episode of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new HBO show "Ballers" aired tonight. Dwayne Johnson plays Spencer Strasmore, a former NFL star turned financial manager who helps friends and former teammates keep their fortunes safe. It reminds me a lot of "Entourage." but with a sports twist.
In tonight's episode, one of Dwayne Johnson's friends is recognized in public as a star NFL Wide Receiver who played college football at USC. "Oh boy, you're Ricky Jarrett. Yea man, I used to watch you and your boy Rodney play at 'SC"
Personally, I think it's awesome that USC gets a shoutout in this show, fictional or not. It's little things like this that keep the program recognized in CFB as a national power. Even during sanctions.
