PA, FL (2), GA (2), HI (2), AZ (2),: Nearly half of our signed class came from quality out-of-state recruits which is not easy to accomplish...especially GA and FL who have very strong in-state options. Last year, only 5 of our 26 were out-of-state but all came from the west (UT, NV,TX). 2014: 4 of our 20 but again, most from the west (ID, AZ, TX) + 1 FL. I see this as a good sign and with our current staff having connections from all over, this should become more of the norm. We also maintained our pipeline to Mater Dei, Serra, LB Poly and Bishop Amat who are consistent suppliers of talent. I believe that if it weren't for Tui and his negative recruiting, we would have had two, maybe three, more Polynesians. (I do wonder, and I realize this is not a politically-correct sentiment, if we lost several to Utah and FUCLA partly due to the LDS presence on USC's football team being not as prevalent as it used to be?)

And two items for the record: (1) Next year's schedule is incredibly difficult and we will need to look deeper than the win/loss total before praising/condemning the new staff. Wholesale changes in philosophy, technique, and strategy in conjunction with a new QB for the first time in three years is a lot to adjust to. (2) Back on December 8th I posted our recruiting star average would rank us in the the top 5 and our class would be in the top 10. just sayin'
