The addition of DBs coach Greg Burns leaves USC with one vacancy on the staff. What remains to be seen is if all the holdovers from the 2018 staff -- Clancy Pendergast, Johnny Nansen, John Baxter, Tim Drevno, Keary Colbert -- are still coaching at USC in the spring.

A source told me there might not be any more additions until after the holidays. Moreover, discussions are still being had about the current staff and they include Baxter retiring with Nansen possibly heading special teams again. USC would then hire a linebackers coach. If no other shuffling takes place, the Trojans still need to address the wide receivers position. Colbert is expected to remain on staff, per a source, while Drevno's status isn't as clear.

As for Pendergast, the best chance of him leaving would likely involve an NFL team calling for his services. While it's doubtful that he would be considered for a DC post, Pendergast could garner interest as a position coach, and he has the means to move on for such a rate.

As always, we'll keep you updated as we learn more on these fronts. Stay tuned.
