I keep thinking of the 1978 game at Stanford.
I'm 20 and sitting high in the end zone. Stanford takes the opening kickoff and begins to come at me for what
I recall as a 12-15 play drive that consumed much of the first quarter, brilliantly directed by Bill Walsh and executed by Guy Benjamin at QB. It was what would be later called "The West Coast Offense". It was a thing of beauty but very frustrating to me and the USC defense. USC was ranked #6 and the defense was as, or more talented than the 2008 defense. The best safety duo in the history of college football in Ronnie Lott and Dennis Smith. Well, that was the last time Stanford scored that day and USC won 13-7.
This year, USC is again ranked #6. Let's see what drama they athletes (and coaches) cook up for us this year!!
What's your memory....other than the JDB broken hand game of course!
