Through three quarters, the most surprising thing to me is how disorganized the Stanford team is. I am not surprised by the ultra conservative play calling, or the less than ordinary performance of. Hogan is Hogan and always has been. He never got better. But the play calling is beyond unimaginative, they start passing when they finally begin to get yards on the ground, but above all, dumb penalties for just about everything under the sun, plus negative help from the coaches who are making illegal substitutions.
This is Stanford before Harbaugh. IMO, Shaw still thinks he has the overwhelming talent on his down lines. And again, even worse than UDub, the Stanford lack of tackling is appalling. Northwestern is a limited team, but Stanford is making them look like a Big 10 contender. I think Stanford's receiving corps is very ordinary and I thought that before the season began, but it doesn't make any difference because Hogan can't hit them anyhow. McCaffery is their lone threat and they go away from him as soon as he starts to pick up yards. Aside from all of the above, Stanford is doing just fine. Oh, those haters who rated Shaw way above Sark, are now seeing Shaw without all of the inherited talent and attitude.
