They never made any excuses last year, but the coaching staff's laser focus on the player rotations this year speaks volumes in terms of what they felt has been the main problem with the team. The depth issue has been in their heads big time, and it has dictated how they have strategized and called games.
So far this year, even though we have played just one game against an inferior opponent, you can tell already with the defense how the added depth changes their coaching (and perhaps changes the results).
The current pre-occupation with rotations extends too to the offensive line, where Coach Connelly has obviously been following Sark's marching orders in terms of finding rotations that will keep the offense fresh and playing fast.
Let's give the offensive coaching staff some time to figure this out. It is still early, and we are lucky to start with a couple of easy games that allow the coaches to explore the player capabilities as well as do some teaching. If/when they do figure it out, we could see some big dividends for the rest of this season.
