RPOs don't work as well if the QB never runs the ball. Texas was selling out to stop the running back. Had Sam pulled back on the hand-off and taken off running in the opposite direction, he might have ripped off huge yardage a couple of times; that might have kept the Texas defense a little more honest. I know that you want to protect a potential Heisman-winning QB, but sometimes you bite the bullet on this stuff.
I do think that Clay and Tee got a little pig-headed about forcing the run after the success that we had against Stanford. Well, that was a good wake-up call on Saturday. I just think that when this team decides to run the two-minute drill with Darnold, they can hardly be stopped. (Of course, the receivers need to catch the damn ball.)
