News updates from today's practice...
DT Noah Jefferson remained absent from practice. Coach Clay Helton said he is still rehabbing his sprained shoulder and he also has some catch-up to do in the classroom after attending to a family matter last week. Helton doesn't anticipate Jefferson returning to the field until November.
Helton said WR JuJu Smith-Schuster has been fighting through hand and foot ailments in each of the four games.
OT Zach Banner was held out today because of a slight ankle sprain. He might return tomorrow.
OG Damien Mama was held back because of a stinger. Helton expects him to return tomorrow.
CB Jack Jones did not practice. Helton said he is "50-50 at best" to play vs. Arizona State. Jones is no longer in a boot.
S John Plattenburg increased his workload.
TB Vavae Malepeai (collarbone) was in pads and was a light participant. He is not allowed to engage in contact.
S Jamel Cook is back in street clothes.

WR Velus Jones and OT Clayton Johnston were limited.
Olajuwon Tucker is taking reps at outside linebacker and Helton said he could see some time there in games. USC has almost exclusively used Uchenna Nwosu and Porter Gustin on the outside in each of the four games.
