See below. This is what I had thought. I figured that the coaches had lost some interest in him and or they hsd some silent verbals or very high interest from other corners around the country. Plus we always seem to recruits 2 or 3 athletes in addition to straight corners as they can play cb, s, wr, slotback, pr, kor etc. Guys like Adoree, juju, jack jones, sydney, ajene, ross etc. come to mind. I did not simply think the coaches had forgotten about him. It sounds like they still want him as he has potential, but they have a few other players they want as well and feel confident that they can land them. It is no slight on Graham. The coaches were busy with spring all and they have several other corners and athletes you love usc too. So they did not drop him at all. He dropped usc. He still has an offer which means they still want him.
SECONDARY SHUFFLE
2017 cornerback Thomas Graham recently de-committed from USC, citing a lack of contact with USC’s staff as the primary reason. According to a source inside the program, the coaches didn’t drop the ball in their communication with Graham. He just isn’t a big priority for this staff.
According to this source, USC’s new coaches were not impressed with Graham’s height (5-foot-10) and felt his film wasn’t spectacular. When Graham called to de-commit, the coach he broke the news to was indifferent.
“It was like, okay, thanks for calling,” the source said, before noting USC will continue to recruit Graham to be a part of the 2016 class.
TrojanSports.com has learned three cornerbacks in particular currently stand out for the Trojans. One is Shaun Wade, a five-star Ohio State commit from Jacksonville, Fla. Wade plans to eventually visit the USC campus. The other two targets are from California.
Jaylon Johnson, from Central East High in Fresno, Calif., is a prospect that this staff feels is one of the better cornerbacks in the entire country. The final member of this coveted trio might be a bit surprising: Darnay Holmes. The five-star recruit at Calabasas High has made it quite clear that he isn’t considering USC, but according to this source, the Trojans will push hard for his commitment regardless.
This source compared Holmes’ feelings toward USC to what the Trojans experienced with 2016 signee Jack Jones. The Long Beach Poly product was notorious for downplaying his interest in USC yet signed with the Trojans anyway.
