We expect USC to be active in the new NCAA transfer database in hopes of securing a grad transfer that can help in the secondary and perhaps the offensive or defensive line right away. Meanwhile, two names that don’t fit that specific bill but I’ve been told USC is already making inroads with: former UCLA OLB/DE Jaelan Phillips and former Michigan DT Aubrey Solomon.

The Trojans were contenders for Phillips and Solomon when they signed out of high school in 2017 as five-stars. Both appeared in less than five games as sophomores this past season and thus are eligible to use their redshirt. They’d also have to sit out the 2019 season.

Several outlets reported earlier this week Solomon will transfer. Phillips announced on Twitter last week he was stepping aside from football at UCLA after sustaining multiple injuries, while stating he wants to attend a school with a major in music production/technology.

USC began offering that very major three years ago. We’ll update you when we hear more.
