Is there a chance Bubba Bolden ends up at USC again?

The short answer is no.

The former USC safety attended practice Thursday and has been hanging around campus this winter. It should be noted that the Nevada native still resides in Los Angeles and is currently attending El Camino Community College. His plan, as I reported in December, is to graduate this spring and then transfer to Miami.

While USC's Student Judicial Affairs and Community Standards works on a second investigation on the incident that resulted in Bolden missing the 2018 season and receiving a 28-month suspension from the university -- he's since been reinstated -- Bolden's mother, Breezy, said her son, who still has three years of eligibility remaining, has no intention of returning to the Trojans.

"Many of his friends are Trojans," she said. "Those friendships don’t end simply because he goes to another school. The kid misses football! He hasn’t played a down of football in over a year. He’s been training and going to school. He just wanted to watch practice, see friends. ...

"Please remember, Bubba was influential in recruiting several current USC players. He still keeps in touch. His relationship with many guys predates their enrollment at 'SC as they competed against each other in 7-on-7."

As illustrated by Thursday's visit, the relationship between Bolden and the USC football program remains strong -- he was allowed to observe in the space between the Howard Jones grass field and Brian Kennedy turf field, which is reserved for recruits, former players and invited guests. It's again worth noting that Bolden is the one player Coach Clay Helton has publicly backed after being dismissed.

Being reinstated by the university was an important development for the family, but Bolden's mother reiterated that her son is all-in on playing at Miami this fall.

"When Bubba committed to Miami, he put his recruiting skills to work and talked to guys about going there. He now has friends in Miami as well and they are anxiously awaiting his arrival."
