Four-star inside linebacker Christian Thatcher (Las Vegas - Arbor View HS) has been to USC games in the past and feels a connection with the program, but he has needed to form a relationship with new linebackers coach Matt Entz. Last week, the Trojans linebacker coach made the trip to Vegas ahead of Thatcher's weekend visit to USC and that seemed to bridge the gap in a lot of ways. D'Anton Lynn has already previously built a bond with Thatcher, and there is plenty of respect for the new USC defensive coordinator from the 2025 recruit. However, his visit focused a lot on building his bond with Entz.
He left USC feeling great about where things stand, and the Trojans certainly have made a strong impression on him up to this point. Washington sounds like it has the best relationship with him since he built a bond with several of its coaches when they were at Arizona. He could visit Seattle this weekend.
But, he has a lot of respect for the staff Lincoln Riley has put together on defense at USC.
"Well, first of all, I feel like that's one of the best defensive staffs in the country. I feel like they're all way too overqualified for what they're doing, but we've known coach Lynn for a while and I know the type of defense he's going to run. I feel like they're just really going to change the way the defense was played from last year and just turn it around completely. So I'm expecting big things out of them. I'm excited to see what they do and what their plans are with me in the future."
