Does USC still have a chance with Beresford?

USC offensive line coach Neil Callaway stopped by to see three-star offensive lineman Cade Beresford last Wednesday but it seems that the Trojans might be out of the running for the product of Woodinville, Wash. HS

TrojanSports.com asked Bereford tonight if he planned to take an official visit to USC. He replied with "I won't be."

When asked if USC was still under consideration Beresford said "I'm locked in with Wazzu."

The 6-foot-7 and 250-pounder is choosing the home-state Cougars over half the Pac-12 and also Nebraska. But it's worth noting that the Trojans offered Bereford a scholarship in November. He's been committed to Washington State since September.

He took an official visit to Pullman this past weekend, his only planned official visit. Beresford plans to sign early.

OT: Just a TERRIBLE turn of events!

Yeah, it's old news, but this just rocks me to the corps and leaves me empty inside.

Pliny the Elder dethroned after eight years as Zymurgy's 'Best Beer in America'

After dominating Zymurgy Magazine's annual survey of the Best Beers in America for eight of the 15 years it has existed, Russian River Brewing Co.'s elusive double IPA Pliny the Elder has been usurped.

Zymurgy, which is the official publication of the American Homebrewers Association, found that following a survey of over 4,000 of its members, that title now belongs to Two Hearted Ale, an IPA brewed by Bell's Brewery in Galesburg, Michigan.

"This is an incredible honor for us," said Laura Bell, CEO of Bell's Brewery. "We got our start as homebrewers — that's how my dad got going — so we really identify with the homebrewing community. We take a lot of that spirit into what we do today."

Zymurgy asked voters to select 20 of their favorite commercial beers available across the United States in an online poll, tallied them up, and with those votes found both state and national winners. Pliny came in at second place nationwide (though first in California), with Founders' Breakfast Stout (Grand Rapids, Michigan) at third, Three Floyds' Zombie Dust pale ale (Hammond, Indiana) at fourth, and another of Bell's, the imperial IPA Hopslam, rounding out the top five.

The Homebrewers Association's list of top breweries in the United States looked similar to its top-ranked brews. Bell's Brewery landed at first, with Founders Brewing coming in at second. Russian River ranked third, with fellow Northern California brewery Sierra Nevada at fourth. Fifth place went to Escondido's Stone Brewing, and sixth to Firestone Walker.

For Russian River loyalists, the results may not come as a shock. Bell's began distributing to California in early 2015, and has steadily been adding more customers in its growing list of distribution territories, including Texas, North Dakota, Nebraska, and South and Central Florida.

Russian River's distribution of Pliny, meanwhile, remains limited; currently, just beer drinkers in California, Oregon, Colorado, and Philadelphia can buy it — if it doesn't sell out immediately. Those who can't get the beer to taste are, naturally, less inclined to vote for it as a favorite.

See the full list of winners at the Homebrewers Association's website.

Short Video Discussion About the Cotton Bowl

These guys are so pro Ohio St., it's ridiculous. Basically, if SC loses, Ohio St. was motivated. If SC wins, Ohio St. wasn't motivated. The theory being that Ohio St would be down for not getting in the playoffs. Ohio St is the better team, no question. Not one mention about SC, except from the female moderator at the end, who was completely ignored.

The only thing that truly matters in life right now is Adam giving us a thorough update on...

injury reports - Porter Gustin, etc. Adam, nothing else really matters. Try to focus like a laser beam on Tuesday and give us a comprehensive report. I will be on pins and needles. Thanks, you are the best.

The rest of world events including the Alabama Senate election be damned.

See you Tuesday. Peace. Out.

So, what do you REALLY want for Christmas?

I figure that most of you here, who can afford to spend time and money on this nonsense here, can buy pretty much whatever you need.... but what do you WANT?

Is it that skinny Red Head at the office?
Is it for that pompous ass down the street (we all have one of those) to have some undefined misfortune?
Is it for Adam and Chris to kiss and make up?
Is it for Sam to come back?
Is it for a Cotton Bowl win?

Whatever it is, say it, here, under the veil of anonymity...

Me?
I want to find an honest and good Detroit Diesel boat engine mechanic,
I want my son in the USAF to somehow appear at home for the holidays.
I want to experience one more Trojan Natty, with my 86yo dad while he is still here.
Oh, and world peace, of course.

Fight on, and maybe Santa will deliver...

The latest on a Rivals250 LB

Sources we trust at Harbor City Narbonne HS have told us that Rivals250 linebacker and USC commit Raymond Scott is now completely locked in with his pledge to the Trojans and plans to sign early.

Scott committed to USC in the summer of 2016 but visited schools like Nebraska and Oklahoma since making that pledge. Apparently those schools couldn't steal him away and USC sees him a priority linebacker recruit, despite all the offers out to 2018 linebackers.

and everyone involved in the Kinnick Wave are incredible human beings. Shown on the College Football Awards Show, Disney gave the Spirit Award to The University of Iowa, their fans and the Stead Family Childrens Hospital. If you didn’t see it, this should be, as Coach David Shaw said on the show, REQUIRED watching for everyone. You will realize how powerful the sports platform is and the great things it can accomplish. This was a phenomenal piece narrated by Tom Rinaldi of E60. You Tube it if you didn’t see it on the Awards Show. They interview Kaden Kelso, a young boy who experienced both sides “of the window.” If you have a dry eye after that, re-evaluate your life.

More on the Gaoteote to Ohio State rumor...

I haven't heard anything from anyone I trust around USC about expecting to lose Bishop Gorman five-star linebacker Palaie Gaoteote or moving on from him.

But a few of you have been asking me about a rumor that Gaoteote is going to flip to Ohio State. So I reached out to Gaoteote, his father and others about the matter. Neither Gaoteote or his father have commented yet and when they do, I will post immediately. But someone I trust in regards to Ohio State recruiting gave his take. This is what he had to say:

"Ohio State is going to get an official visit and I would say they stand a shot to flip him. I just don’t know. He has always been on the radar for Ohio State as more than just a ‘pipe dream’ in my honest opinion."

We've known that for a while. Ohio State was always a school that Gaoteote mentioned as an official visit destination. The Buckeyes, like USC, also recently offered Gaoteote's younger brother, class of 2021's Ma'a Gaoteote. Ohio State is also deeply plugged in at Bishop Gorman. In recent years, USC was beat out by the Buckeyes on recruiting battles for Bishop Gorman stars Haskell Garrett and Tate Martell.

I'll post more as soon as I have something.
