Notes and observations from Friday's practice ...
USC was in full pads again.
11-on-11:
Cody Kessler goes deep over the middle to Taylor McNamara. Didn't see that coming.
Scott Felix gets a sack.
Kessler hits Darreus Rogers on a hitch and he quickly spins away from Lockett for extra yards.
Kessler hits McNamara on a short drag route.
Tyler Petite catches a pass downfield off play-action. You can tell both him and McNamara are getting comfortable in the offense after a quiet start.
De'Quan Hampton catches a short pass.
Leon McQuay and Petite legs get entangled and Petite falls, preventing him from a probable TD. Surprising, there was no call.

Adoree' Jackson flies past Marvell Tell. We're seeing a gear from him that was probably there last year but we just didn't get to see it much.
JuJu Smith-Schuster makes a ridiculous catch on Kevon Seymour while falling down. The ball must have bounced off JuJu's body four times.

Kessler hits JuJu over the middle for a TD.
Aca'Cedric Ware breaks outside and then sharply cuts in for a TD. You're going to like him.
Greg Townsend sacks Sam Darnold.
Biggie Marshall breaks up a pass to Jalen Greene.
Cam Smith breaks up a pass to Daniel Imatorbhebhe.

Tre Madden fights his way through the pile for a TD.
Tell pops Hampton pretty hard for an incompletion.
Max Browne hits Imatorbhehe in the corner for TD. Dropped it right in. You rarely see Browne not get enough arch on a throw.
Porter Gustin drags down Ware just before the goal line to save a TD.
Adoree' scores on an end-around.

The play goes to Adoree' again but Chris Hawkins sniffs it out and stops him.
Malik Dorton tackles Ronald Jones II in the backfield.
Browne rolls right and hits Hampton for a TD.

Adoree' drops a bomb from Kessler. He burned Lockett on the play and Kessler put it on the money.
Cravens nearly makes a diving interception.
Browne overthrows Petite.
Kessler has JuJu open deep but doesn't see him and checks down instead.
Kessler goes deep to Adoree', who catches it between Hawkins and John Plattenburg.
Lockett breaks up a pass to JuJu at the goal line.
Lockett comes back and tackles JuJu right at the goal line to keep him from scoring.

Wyatt Schmidt attempts three field goals that were intended to be blocked. (Didn't realize this the other night during the scrimmage). Delvon Simmons blocked the first, Noah Jefferson the second, and I couldn't tell who got his hand on the third.

Darreus drops a bubble screen and immediately dives on it. The pass was actually forward but Darreus learned his lesson in Utah.
Kessler tries to squeeze one in to Adoree' over the middle and Smith drops the INT. The freshman was not happy with that.
Dorton stuffs Ware in the backfield.
Hawkins stops McNamara on a short pass.

Ware goes off tackle and wills himself into the end zone. Might have been a missed holding call there.
Ware is greeted by Gustin in the backfield and and slips away, only to be stopped by Uchenna.
Hawkins and Lockett combine to stop Adoree'.
Kessler throws one on a line and Adoree' jumps high, right in front of McQuay and with Hawkins bearing down, for a TD. Just a spectacular play. Adoree' looks like he's been playing receiver since he got here. Of course, this is his fourth practice at the position since April.
Uchenna sacks Browne.

Plattenburg intercepts a pass to Tober, who was hit hard by Matt Lopes.
Adoree' makes another catch and eludes a few would-be tackles.
Ware gets consecutive carries and powers his way into the end zone.
Darnold throws a perfect ball to Robby Kolanz in the corner for a TD.

Su'a takes down RoJo behind the line.
Kessler fakes a handoff to Dom Davis, who then receives an easy swing pass for a TD.
Biggie plays tight D on Darreus and it falls incomplete. An official calls Biggie for PI and DBs coach Keith Heyward is noticeably upset about the call.
Kessler hits McNamara in the corner for a TD.
Kessler goes back to McNamara and the offense scores again.

Something worth noting: OL coach Bob Connelly was not happy with Zach Banner's performance and had him practicing with the second team for much of the day. Chuma Edoga stepped in his place. Connelly intimated Edoga is someone that will be ready to take the field this season.
USC has a closed practice Saturday morning and will hold a scrimmage at Howard Jones Field at 2:30 p.m that is open to the public.
