Big Ten "the country's best conference"- Start with 9 teams. Lost in play-in: 11- Mich. St. Lost in round 1 (64 teams): 2. Ohio St., 4. Purdue. Lost in round 2 (32 teams): 1. Illinois, 2. Iowa, 9. Wisconsin, 11. Rutgers. 10. Maryland. Remain: 1. Michigan. Record so far: 7-8 .467. Those 8 losses are 8 of their entrants gone.

Big Twelve - Start with 7 teams. Lost in round 1 (64 teams): 3. Texas. Lost in round 2 (32 teams): 3. West Virginia, 3. Kansas, 4. Oklahoma State, 6. Texas Tech. 8. Oklahoma. Remain: 1. Baylor. Record so far: 7-6 .538. Those 6 losses are 6 of their entrants gone.
