Where USC is now The Trojans are now ranked #36. That should make USC a #10 seed. However ESPN and FOX both are discounting USC while saying only Arizona, ASU and UW get in. Hmmm…this does sound like the mumbo jumbo applied to the final 4 in football. The facts: USC is second, 1 game behind Arizona and 1/2 game ahead of UCLA. They lead UW by 2 games and ASU by 3 in the PAC-12 playing similar schedules. Overall they have 20 wins- only 21 teams of the 45 above them have more. They have an SOS of 49. Only 21 of the teams above are better. I get the feeling that the pseudo ex-spurt gurus are Sudoku fans and not real analysts. The FOX guy talks of important games being a home victory versus the top 30 (of what?), a road victory about the top 50 in neutral games, and a win on the road vs. the top 75. USC has 4 of those so far. Does this mean losing close games versus good teams is worthless?

The game: Back to being a pulse pounder with the score 60-58 with 7:16 to go. But USC played heavier D to crank it up to a 15-6 finishing stroke. Final was 75-64., Keep in mind that Colorado was 26-5 in their most recent games (6-1 in conference this year) at home. This now makes it 2 straight USC wins at mile high and 4 straight vs. the Buffs in 2017-2018. SC shot over and into the zone defense. Hitting 10-20 3 pointers and 55% overall. 32 points were scored in the paint. USC caused 13 turnovers including 9 from steals resulting in 17 points. USC now sits in #2 spot in the PAC 12 at 11-5 pending the result of the Utah game tonight with UCLA..

The heroes. Metu (21 pts-3 Rebs-2 Blks-1 stl) and McLaughlin (18 pts-4 Rebs-7 Asts-1 Blk-2 stl) carried the team. The bench scored 18 points with the Thornton as a standout, in his best game IMO as a Trojan, had 7pts-2 Rebs-2 asts-3 stl). He spelled McLaughlin for valuable minutes. The team D held the Buffs from coming back in that 15-6 finish spurt. The team in general handles the rarified atmosphere (give me some air!) without a problem. All starters but Jonah Matthews played 28-35 minutes apiece.

Next- Utah…right now 1 1/2 games behind USC, 17-9 overall and 9-6 in conference. They are 4-2 in conference home games. Both USC and UCLA handled Utah in LA by 17 and 18 points respectively. A preview might be seen tonight in the Utah game vas UCLA. Go Trojans -2 more regulation wins…..
