Full story from Matt's interview yesterday with Kameryn Fountain in San Antonio.

NYD Bowl Game Thread

So, my rooting today, not predictions:

Go Liberty - always going against Duckies
Go Iowa - I am a B1G guy now, and screw the SEC
Go Wisconsin - see directly above
Go Michigan - see directly above, and Bama has had enough past success
Go Huskies - even though i do usually pull for Sark and his life/recovery, screw the future SEC horns as well, and lets get a P12 NC!

Now, in all cases I PREDICT the other teams above will win all the games, but that is who I am rooting for.

Quiet oil boom

Quiet oil boom
2023-12-06-1358-us-russian-and-fallback.png

Data: Energy Information Administration. Chart: Axios Visuals
American oil production — already higher than any other country — is quietly setting new records and helping to push down gas prices.
  • Why it matters: Oil wells are booming again this year after the pandemic crushed demand and reduced production by more than 20%, Axios' Ben Geman reports.
What's happening: U.S. oil production is over 13.2 million barrels per day, topping records set in 2019.
  • The average gas price in the U.S. — $3.15 per gallon — has plunged since hitting records in the summer of 2022.
How it happened: Forces pushing U.S. output up include ...
  1. High oil prices in recent years provided an incentive to drill more.
  2. Producers at prolific U.S. shale basins are improving efficiency and drilling horizontal wells up to three miles long.
  3. Saudi Arabia and allied producers have held back some production as OPEC looks to prop up prices, leaving a market opening.
  4. Investment and permitting decisions that date back several years — "even as far back as the Bush and Obama administrations for offshore development," the American Petroleum Institute's Megan Bloomgren said.
🔎 Between the lines: The record drilling — and how to talk about it — has squeezed President Biden between young climate activists and persistent GOP attacks on his energy record.
  • Biden has remained relatively silent about U.S. oil strength. But he does like promoting lower gas prices, which this supply increase helps enable.
Some moderate Democrats want Biden to openly take credit for record production.
  • Josh Freed, who runs the climate and energy program at the center-left think tank Third Way, told Axios: "Gas prices have been high — and the Biden administration has done a huge amount to lower them, including upping drilling in the U.S."
The intrigue: Biden's GOP and industry critics say the records come despite White House policies they call a drag on U.S. companies.
  • Biden's critics want less regulation and stronger support for drilling on federal lands.
  • Much of the oil and gas boom has unfolded on private or state lands, including the Texas side of the prolific Permian Basin.
🛢️ What's next: Production is expected to grow next year, but at a slower pace, according to estimates from the federal Energy Information Administration that are frequently revised.
  • The agency's latest outlook sees U.S. crude output averaging roughly 13.2 million barrels per day next year, roughly the same as current levels and up around 2% from this year's average.

GTS Week 12 - UCLA - FINAL STANDINGS

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 12 weeks in a row, shame on me.

Our loyal GTSers finished out the season in exactly the manner we should have expected, heavily over-estimating this team's performance. In a pitiful, pathetic end to the Caleb Williams era, the Trojans got stomped, manhandled and kicked all over the field by dreaded fUCLA. And our dwindling GTS field mostly failed to get close once again. The exceptions were three realists, who all picked UCLA to win outright and grabbed the top three spots. Congrats (??) to @jcbraam for having enough sense to pick against the Trojans and win his second week of the year with a 10. He was followed by @Kylerkeener - who I think we can pretty much all blame the entire season on for his far too accurate negative prognostications and @trojan_a_1 who was generally dialed in all year as well - both of whom posted a 15 by guessing a UCLA victory. It got ugly from there for the rest of us sunshine pumpers.

Weekly winners this year were @jcbraam , @cramwetzel and @Kylerkeener with 2 wins each, and then @Bed-NASH , @highnoon2 , @PanamaSteve , @Trojan Ace , @dbcraig , @Bigtrojan78 , @usc7137 and @FreeReggieBush with one weekly win. That's 14 total thanks to a 3 way tie in week 2 between @cramwetzel , @usc7137 and @FreeReggieBush . I was the only one on the season to hit a score dead on. We had quite a few within 5, but not many in the second half of the season.

For season standings, @Larr212121 continued to make it a pretty boring race for the win with yet another solid posting. Congrats to @Larr212121 for a solid wire to wire win this year. We did have some movement below the top, with my terrible dumb guess this week dropping me 3 spots down to 4th, with the anti-trojans, errr, realists, @trojan_a_1 and @jcbraam bumping up to take 2nd and 3rd respectively, while @cramwetzel held on to 4th. @Kylerkeener , @Darcy Bug , @CRDUSC93 , @tentm and then @187Bruins rounded out the top 10.

It was a crappy season for the Trojans, but a highly entertaining season of GTS with every late game garbage score swinging outcomes and snatching victory in painful fashion from more than a few GTSers.

I'm absolutely not doing this for whatever horrendous bowl we end up in, so @Ryan Young, you're on your own if you want a GTS for that game. I will, of course, put in a wildly overly optimistic guess with the rest of the crew if you decide to hold a one off Shifty Ron's Pleather Emporium Bowl GTS though.

Until next season. Fight on!

PS Here is the link to the final spreadsheet. Some quality control is probably needed, although I think I got everything right.

Sc portal transfers historically

After the ole miss game I was starting to think about every usc transfer. Has anyone outside of dart make a big impact elsewhere?
Will be interesting to see if domani or raleek can turn their careers around but I we all knew dart could play when he transferred
I thought Kyle ford and trigg would be successful but didnt pan out
I guess you can make a case for goforth since he starts on Washington but I don’t think he’s an impact player

After Joe Biden was elected to the White House, Democrat pundits hailed the return of “adults in charge” in Washington.

However, since his election, there has been no shortage of scandals exposing Democrat degeneracy and perversion — including in the halls of power in D.C. and in the White House.

Here are the top most recent Democrat scandals under Joe Biden’s presidency:
