Riley has lost me now

He has got to go. I really dont think he knows how to win big games. The clock management is really the worst I have seen before in a head coach. The playcalling is downright atrocious at times. WE have already experienced keeping a coach that doesnt deserve to be coaching and the damage that did to our program. Dude has got to go.

Playoffs!?!?

Now that the playoffs are officially over, I thought about the bowls for the first time. If the bowls were bad before, think how bad they will be now that there is a 12 team playoff. Absolutely no one is going to play in them. I’m not sure SC will have enough players to even field a team with all the holdouts and transfers that will not play. Assuming we even win enough games to make a bowl.

Football The ramifications of Quinten Joyner's fumble

I really worry now that they've lost trust in Quinten Joyner after the second quarter fumble last week. He didn't touch the ball the rest of the game, so I asked Lincoln Riley about it today:

"Well, there's a fine line. There's a fine line. There's mistakes that you can live with in a game; there's some that are very detrimental. Ball-carriers, when you have the football, I mean there's not much room for error just because turnovers are so hindering on your chances to win. Obviously, that was a massive play in the game and certainly not blaming it all on Quinten -- there's many other plays in that game. But job No. 1 if you're a ball-carrier, you've got to finish the down with the [ball]. So Quinten's a good, young player. We're never going to certainly toss a guy away after one mistake, but they've got to show progress and they've got to show that, all right, I made this mistake once, it's not going to happen again. Because we tell our players all the time, there's no player that's good enough that you can live with excessive penalties or excessive turnovers. It doesn't matter how many good plays you make -- if you do either one of those things it can never equal out and you're always going to be in the negative and it's always going to hurt the team more than it helps the team. I believe Quinten will learn from it and grow, and we're going to push him -- we're going to work on the things from a fundamental standpoint and expect him to improve and be much better for us going forward."

Staff predictions for USC-Penn State

No full Roundtable this week, but definitely score predictions:

Tajwar: "Penn State, 27-24. But I really don't feel certain of that. Penn State's obvious matchup advantages lead me to lean in their favor, but I've got a strong gut feeling that the Trojan's will be able to summon some of their best football in this game with their backs against the wall. Add the fact that Penn State will have to struggle with the difficulties of long-distance travel for their first time in this new era, and I think USC has a real shot at an upset if they keep their focus for four quarters."

Jeff: "I hate this because this team is so all over the place and I really don’t believe in Penn State. I think Penn State has a great defense but besides their two running backs, what do they have? An overrated Drew Allar? He shouldn’t really scare anyone. This defense NEEDS to get pressure on him if they want to have any chance of winning this game. I might be drinking the Kool-Aid, but I think USC wins this 28-21. I might be crazy though. I think USC should be able to run the ball well against Penn State and I think this defense will get a turnover or two. I’m going to predict that Jaylin Smith will get the defensive backs their first interception. I think they will start to turn their season around and shock the number four team in the country."

Ryan: "There are plenty of reasons to think USC pulls the upset here. The Trojans' backs are against the wall -- that usually gives a team a jolt. Penn State is traveling across the country -- we've seen across the Big Ten this year that the travel seems to be a factor. James Franklin is known for blowing big games, and this qualifies with his team at No. 4 in the rankings and getting a ton of attention. All that said, I just can't give the benefit of the doubt to a USC team that gave away two of its first three conference games. I think it's very possible the Trojans win -- I do -- but if I'm pinned to a prediction, I'll say Penn State, 24-21."

FEMA spends $4.9bn on Covid in one month — 20 times more than on Hurricane Helene aid

The Federal Emergency Management Agency budgeted 20-times more cash for its response to Covid last month than it spent on Hurricane Helene aid.

Official documents reveal that Fema set aside $4.9 billion in coronavirus aid in September, although the pandemic was officially declared over more than 12 months ago.

According to official documents seen by The Telegraph, Fema made around $19.8 billion available for its response to Covid in the 2024 fiscal year, which ran from October 2023 through to last month.

It represents around 40 per cent of the agency’s entire outlay of $47.6 billion for the year.

On Monday, the agency said its spending on the response to Hurricane Helene had surpassed $210 million.
